I should say that I have built several uncomplicated decks and various remodeling projects for years. I know what I wanted and how it should be done. Mr. Juan explained that he would be using Simpson post brackets on top of concrete peers, and the spacing he would use for the stair stringers in case we wanted to upgrade from pressure treated to PVC in the future. I did not have to request any changes. When his proposal came, it was well within the range of other contractors and even included a concrete pad for the stair landing, which I hadn't thought about. I feel very confident about Mr. Juan's work.
